What is probate?

Probate is the process which needs to be followed, which allows the executors of a will, or the administrators of the dead persons estate, to collect in the assets and distribute the estate of the person who died.

Probate can be a simple process, but for most people, because they usually only do this once in their lives, can be confusing at best!

Probate can however, be very complex, especially where trusts are created, for children, or surviving partners, for example.

Does everyone need it?

Probate is not required by many people. It can often be useful to go through the process, but where estates are small, and assets are easily accounted for (for example there may only be a single bank account in their sole name), institutions like banks can offer a simple means to getting the dead persons assets.

Solicitors and other probate professionals, will always be happy to offer their services, but so long as care is taken, it can be a straightforward process.

We offer a great value probate service. The first option is just to obtain the grant of probate, and for this we use a partner solicitor (as this is a regulated activity) and they will charge just £750 plus vat.

If you would like a full estate administration service we charge no more than £1.5% of the estate value. Simpler estate may be lower in cost, so please contact us for a quote.
