When is the best time to make a will?

When to make a will is a common question. Most people think that you need to be reasonably well off before thinking about a will, but the fact is that a will is designed to aloow your family or other people to deal with the formalities of your death in a quicker and easier way.

There are many things that need to be dealt with, including the closing down of any accounts you might have, dealing with policies you hold, or just dealing with your funeral. If you do not have a will, these issues become more complex and costly for your family to deal with.

Ideally I would recommend anyone over 18 to get a will. They are not expensive in relation to the benefits they bring. Your family with certainly thank you for thinking of them. If you have any personal property, then of course a will is the right way to show how you want these to be distributed - even if it is to your mum and dad, or sibling.

So in answering when to make a will, I would have to say as soon as you can.

We are committed to your safety, and to help you arrange a Will or lasting power of attorney without needing a personal face to face appointment, we can also offer Skype, Zoom, FaceTime, Messenger or many other types of video calls.
